Custom Pet Portraits
Is your cat a brandy-soaked Edwardian dandy with a possible criminal record? Is your terrier a gloomy sailor pressed into service for the Royal Navy? Is your dachshund a Victorian scullery maid with a worrisome opium habit?
If you’re pondering these or any other possibilities, you’re my kind of person and I can’t wait to meet your furry friend! I’m delighted to offer custom portraits of your pet in the historical context that best suits their personality and interests.

Frequently Asked Questions:
-
First, make sure to sign up for my mailing list to be notified when I'm available for custom orders. When the custom portrait shop is open, there will be a form on this page where you can tell me all about your pet (tell me everything! getting to know them is my favorite part). You can upload photos and suggest the historical period or style you have in mind for their portrait if you already have an idea. Don't worry if you're not quite sure- we can brainstorm together via email. I have loads of ideas!
-
My illustrations are sketched in pencil on paper first, then scanned and digitally inked and painted using tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Procreate.
-
Depending on my bookings, anticipate about 2-3 weeks turnaround time from when the order is placed to when you receive your finished portrait. Leading up to the holidays, I may get busy, so lead times may be longer— I’ll always keep you updated on wait times and will do my best to accommodate reasonable deadlines for gifts!
-
Yes, of course! Depending on the portrait complexity, there will be an additional charge (about $20-30 per additional pet). Feel free to reach out with any questions.
-
Well, that is the hope! I always take the time to get to know your pet. I’ll ask you to tell me all about them, and to send me several photos showing their personality and character. I then use these details to create a whimsical portrait that captures the essence of your furry friend, though it's important to note that my style is best described as "playful children's-book-style illustration," rather than photo-realistic portraiture.
-
Absolutely! The price of the custom portrait includes one print in the size of your choice, but you may order as many additional prints as you like to use as gifts, or even holiday/greeting cards (as long as you don't sell them commercially, as I retain the copyright on all my artwork). Feel free to reach out with any questions!

At the moment, I have a full plate of custom orders, but I should be ready for a fresh new batch of portraits in the coming month. Please sign up for my mailing list for notifications! Meanwhile, may I interest you in a ready-to-frame art print from the current collection?
-
As of now, I do not offer framing as a standard option. All prints arrive unframed and carefully packed in cardboard mailing tubes. However, I can help facilitate custom framing for you in cooperation with my printer for a small additional charge, plus the extra cost of the framing.
